The documentary represents the story of Armenian genocide survivors who rebuilt their lives in Southern Russia and Ukraine, only to be deported by Germany for forced labor during WWII, while thousands of Armenian Red Army soldiers were taken as POWs. Branded as suspected traitors by Soviet authorities after the war, around 5,000 displaced Armenians found refuge in Stuttgart’s Funker Kaserne barracks — before choosing exile in the United States over return to Soviet rule.
